How to Play Seven-Twenty Seven - Card GamesIn this card game, each person is dealt a total of five cards, although they do not have to take all five cards. The cards are dealt one at a time, face down. The objective of the game is to get either seven or twenty seven in your hand. The points have to add up exactly to one of these two numbers in order for a person to win. This card game assigns each card points. The face cards are generally worth half a point, the Ace, as in Black Jack, can either be a one or a two. Each person has to take at least two cards, so no one can have just a seven and win the game. The numbered cards in the deck are all worth the number they represent, for example, an eight is worth eight points. Someone who is dealt a three and then a four may stop receiving cards; they have seven and are already guaranteed half the pot. Seven-Twenty Seven is a split pot game. This means that two people generally win the pot, the person whose cards add up to twenty seven and the person whose cards add up to seven. After each card is dealt to a player, betting commences beginning with the player to the left of the dealer and moving clockwise around the table. As with most poker games, players are allowed to either call, raise or fold. If a player raises the bet, the other players must call him or her, that means they must add to the pot the same amount as the player who raised the pot. Other players can also continue to raise the stakes as well. After all of the cards are dealt, another round of betting commences and then it is up to the leader, that is the person who began raising the bet during the final round, to show their hand. If this person's hand adds up to twenty-seven, he or she split's the pot with the player who is still in the game holding seven. If no one is holding a seven hand, the player with the hand worth twenty seven points wins the entire pot. If, however, no one has twenty seven, the cards are given back to the dealer, the money stays in the pot and a new game begins. The person who is holding seven in their hand is not entitled to half of the pot as no one else won the pot. In this card game, a person holding the low seven hand is only entitled to half the pot if someone else has twenty seven points in their hand. There are several variations to this game, one is that the person who has seven is entitled to take half the pot, leaving the remainder for the next card game. Another variation is that everyone who holds a seven hand split the pot. Still another variation is for everyone to have to take five cards, with the ability to discard three and draw three new cards. The rules vary with individual players, so if you are playing this game, make sure you know the rules before you begin. Seven-Twenty Seven is a fun game, particularly for those who enjoy Black Jack, but want to play in a round table, poker setting. Comments |
